Dumbbell Nebula (M27)

The Dumbbell Nebula, also known as M27 or NGC 6853, is one of the brightest and best-observable planetary nebulae in the sky. It is located in the constellation Vulpecula and is approximately 1,200 light-years from Earth.

It formed as the result of the death of a star similar to our Sun, which cast off its outer layers into space. The resulting formation was named "Dumbbell" due to its characteristic shape resembling weightlifting dumbbells. Inside the nebula remains a white dwarf that illuminates the ejected gas.

Acquisition

Slowly but surely, I started to like DSOs (Deep Sky Objects) more than planets and the Moon 😄. The universe began to draw me in, and I kept trying to find new objects to photograph that I could manage to locate.
